Rope and where to get it
You can’t have a shibari adventure without rope. Here is a collection and short review of the things I have used or have found along my adventure.

If you haven’t noticed I tend to use POSH quite a bit more these days. I love working with it for many reasons. The biggest take away… 6mm diameter rope is rated at 1200 lbs, has a traditional appearance, exceptionally soft on the hands, good in water, washable, takes a knot and behaves similar to natural fibers, comes in many colors, and does not need treatment or much maintenance. I buy it from RW rope and usually wait for a sale (black Friday or presidents day).
It is important to me that I am able to trust my rope and that I can use it in crazy ways without destroying it. I do a lot with dynamics and like to play outdoors and make messes. So I find POSH to fit my style the best.
Jute is my personal preference for natural fibers. There are quite a few places to find natural fiber rope but it’s best to get yours from places that make it specifically for bondage. There are many reasons for this but the biggest (for me) is that you have no idea what chemicals they use to treat the rope when coming from a factory. Also PLEASE support our kinky vendors and friends! I have jute from Haven Kink. In the past, I got my jute hand made by friends in my local scene.
If you are looking for hemp, I'd check out Twisted Monk. They have lots of good resources on their website and even some fun gear!

If nylon is what you seek I’d look to Knot Head Nylon Rope. By far Nylon comes in the most colors options than any other kind of rope. I used to use nylon exclusively when I first started my rope adventure. I made the mistake of getting a very large diameter rope (12mm)… It works but it looks very big on the body. So stick with your 6mm or 8mm.
